Seafood Hub: Investment of Rs 40 Billion in 2014
Many beautiful prospects for the Seafood Hub. Indeed, Korean investors, Chinese and Russian eyeing this sector. They have already contacted the Ministry of Fisheries to establish processing plants tuna in Mauritius and the port to supply Mauritian companies.

Interviewed by Le Matinal Thursday, the Minister of Fisheries Nicolas Von-Mally, confirmed the news. He said that business is going very well for the Seafood Hub and in 2014, he expects investments being in the range of Rs 30 billion to Rs 40 billion in this sector.

The minister said that the arrival of Korean, Chinese and Russian tuna in our waters are likely to boost the sector in terms of job creation, material supply fuel and repair boats. The arrival of the company Sapmer in Mauritius in 2013 showed that this sector is booming. She had invested a whopping Rs 20 billion last year.

The year 2013, he said, was marked by the arrival of the Japanese tuna seiners. These boat owners have relocated their operations in South Africa to come to Mauritius to provide the Mauritian tuna companies. It should be noted that in 2013, the Seafood Hub sector grew by 10%.
