MES postpones SC English oral exam to November 16
A wise decision, responds UPSEE.

The School Certificate English oral examination, initially scheduled for 9 November, has been postponed to 16 November due to the general elections. The Mauritius Examinations Syndicate made this decision official yesterday by means of a circular, after obtaining the agreement of Cambridge Assessment International Education. The session of 9 November, which corresponded to the 8th session of the English oral expression test, has thus been postponed.

The Union of Private Secondary Education Employees (UPSEE) welcomed this initiative, considering that it prioritizes the safety of candidates.

Exams – SC: the oral English test postponed to November 16

The Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES) was finally able to reach a consensus with Cambridge Assessment International Education (CAIE) for the postponement of the English oral exam, scheduled for November 9. This date being the eve of the elections, the MES preferred to postpone this exam to the 16th.

Initially, this date posed a problem because according to Cambridge, all oral exams had to be completed by November 15. In an exceptional situation, exceptional measures were required, and Cambridge finally accepted the one-day delay.

This is a relief for candidates, parents and examiners alike. The November 9 session was the 8th session of English Language Speaking (formerly Oral English), which is conducted in groups and colleges, most of the time on Saturdays, so that there is no clash with other exams on the schedule.
