The Council of Ministers approved the payment of the 14th month as well as the amount of salary compensation set at Rs 610. This 14th month will be paid in two installments for people receiving a salary of up to Rs 50,000.
To enable employers to pay the 14th month, the Cabinet has decided to make amendments to the Employment Relations Act. The amendments will empower Labour Minister Reza Uteem to draft new regulations regarding wage adjustment and payment of the January 2025 wage compensation amounting to Rs 610.
Regarding the payment of the 14th month in two instalments, the Special Allowance Bill will be presented to Parliament by the government. This bill will legally define the terms of payment in the private sector and the financial aid granted to small and medium-sized enterprises. One instalment of the 14th month will have to be paid before 31 December, and the other instalment by January 2025.
The Special Allowance Bill also provides for the payment of a 14th month for pensioners.
