NCE: a national success rate of 70.4%

The overall success rate for the National Certificate of Education (NCE) exams has reached 70.43 %. Once again, girls outperformed boys. This year, the strongest subject was Art and Design, with notable improvements also seen in Mathematics and Kreol Morisien.
Out of 15,047 candidates in 2025, 10,598 passed, representing a national pass rate of 70.43%, a rise of 0.93 percentage points compared to 2024’s 69.5%.
Girls achieved 73.65% success, while boys reached 66.93%.
Regionally:
- In Mauritius, the pass rate stood at 71.16%.
- On Rodrigues, a slight uptick to 57.9% from 57.6% last year.
- On Agaléga, results slipped to 44.44% from 83.3% in 2024 — though this drop should be interpreted with caution, given there were only nine candidates this year, four of whom passed.
Subject-by-subject performance:
- Mathematics: 75.03% (up from 72.7%)
- Art and Design: an impressive 96.32%, showing strong growth.
- English: 84.18%, French: 89.79% — both improved.
Optional languages: Kreol Morisien rose to 93% (from 89.2%), while Hindi increased moderately to 73.95%.
For Grade 9 Extended, the results remain very poor. Out of 1,460 students who took the exams, only 78 passed, representing a rate of 5.3%.
Speaking to the press yesterday morning, the director of the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate explained that measures will be put in place to support these students.
Note that the PSAC results will be announced on December 11th.
