Officers from the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) are continuing their investigation into the acquisition of MedPoint Clinic by the state. Several people who are familiar with the MedPoint Clinic dossier will be questioned during the week by ICAC officers.

According to a source, the permanent secretary (PS) at the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life and officers of the Central Procurement Board will also be questioned. The ICAC investigators are planning to visit the premises of the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life again.

This week the ICAC officers are expected to confirm if the four bidders namely MedPoint Ltd, Sos Nettoyage Ltd, Clinique Pierre Janet and Avenue Darshal Ltd, had indeed met the deadline granted by the CPB to send their offers.

At a meeting held at Quatre Bornes on February 20, Opposition leader Paul Bérenger said that Satish Faugoo, minister of Agro-Industry and Food Security, was against the transaction. He was then serving as interim director at the Ministry of Health.

“Maya Hanoomanjee had ignored the recommendation of a team of experts,” said Bérenger.
