Five councillors accused of fraud in Port Louis

Raouf Khodabaccus, advisor at the municipality of Port Louis, filed a case against five of his colleagues on October 11.
He has accused five councillors of being involved in the manipulation of boxes containing sports equipment coming from China.
The equipment reached Mauritius in the month of April. According to Khodabaccus, documents were manipulated so that these products could pass through customs without the sponsor paying an additional fee. The shipment was addressed to a councillor, whose name he did not mention. He has also reported the case to the Independent Commission Against Corruption.
The lord mayor of Port Louis, Mamade Khodabaccus said, “There is no fraud concerning the arrival of the containers of sports equipment. It is just a story that Raouf Khodabaccus has invented. I have already checked the bill of entry and other documents and I could not find anything that was not clear.”
The lord mayor also wondered why Khodabaccus took so much time to report the matter.
