Proposition To Reopen The Port Of Mahebourg
The village of Mahebourg will see major developments in the coming years. A study is underway right now by the government to reopen the port of Mahebourg.

This reopening has become almost a necessity for the government that wants to make an oil port. This is to prevent any shortage of this fuel. Two tanks will be built by the State Trading Corporation (STC) to have a strategic stock in this mythical village in the South. Discussions on this have reached an advanced stage in the worlds of government, suggests to someone familiar with the Morning.

The authorities concerned, including government, STC, and fuel distributors, lean hard on this event.

The only problem is that the strategic storage of fuel in Mahebourg will require a significant investment. Around Rs 800 million will be needed according to our information overlap.

The port of Mahebourg had its heyday in the 19th century, when a railroad linked it to Port Louis from 1868 to 1968. This village is now a quiet coastal village, except perhaps on market days.
