The crash occurred at sea, A0 13:30, Wednesday (April 4), near the southern end of the runway of the airport of Pointe La Rue, Mahe, the main island of the archipelago, said the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA).
The aircraft departed at 13:26, but experienced problems immediately, and was scheduled for an emergency return to the airport in the Seychelles. And it is this attempt at landing the aircraft struck the runway several times before finishing his run into the sea, said a statement from the SCAA, quoted by the daily Seychelles Nation in its edition of this Thursday.
The airstrip at the Seychelles International Airport was temporarily closed to traffic for the work of inspection and cleaning before being reopened to come, always on Wednesday, Etihad Airways.
The SCAA has indicated that there were no injuries or damage to property (except of course the American aircraft destroyed). The Seychelles authorities have yet recovered the wreckage.
