OVEC: Six Young Fly To Brunel University
Kevin Zibran Heetun, UoM alumnus, gets the "full scholarship" of the state for his Masters in Sustainable Electrical Engineering.

Six Mauritians through the Overseas Education Centre, will fly soon to study at Brunel University in London , England. Among a stock of the State has obtained the 1st Class in Electronic Engineering at the University of Mauritius. At a recent meeting with alumni of the British institution , these young people had the opportunity to discuss the opportunities that present themselves .
In Mauritius , Dorish Chitson , director of OVEC , said Brunel University attracts many students because of the training program it offers.This event, held at the headquarters of Audi Zentrum Reduced, was an opportunity for these young people and their parents to meet the OVEC representatives of former students who studied at Brunel University and the first Mauritian alumni of Brunel University , Philip Ah Chuen , the ABC Motors director .
At this meeting they expressed their experiences and different opportunities to study at Brunel , although the campus is located in London , the costs are lower than other London universities , we learn . They provided them some practical advice so they can make the most of their student life at Brunel .The institution is located a few minutes from Heathrow airport and has several facilities located on the campus to ensure that students have to spend a lot on transportation costs .
Besides the academic side , it has several sports facilities and offers many opportunities for young people to thrive in other areas such as art and music. Brunel University is very famous for these concerts and the famous art festival. Moreover, as explained Dorish Chitson , Brunel University is one of the few British institutions with a career center and offers students paid internships in British firms during their studies. Besides, she says , is one of the reasons that motivate young people to apply for a place in this institution.These young people present at the meeting with alumni , we find Kevin Zibran Heetun former student of Electronic Engineering at the University of Mauritius.
After earning a First Class Kevin Zibran Heetun decides to continue with his master . It then contacts the Overseas Education Centre which is headquartered in Moka to inquire about opportunities in the field he wants to pursue a career . The young man gets along with the full scholarship of the state and decided to enroll at Brunel University where he will make his Masters in Sustainable Electrical Engineering. Former student UOM believes that with the concept of Maurice Ile Durable that the government intends to develop this sector will soon be in great demand and has lend its expertise once returned home . Other young people , namely Talia Dundhoo , intends to pursue studies in International Politics. She wants a career in the field of diplomacy and working for the United Nations. Like many young people, it is the opportunity to do internships in British firms which attracts the most Brunel University .
These young people and fly in a few days to London, where classes start in mid -September.Note that Brunel University was ranked 47th in the UK by the Times in 2011. Each year, the campus is home to nearly 15,000 students from nearly 100 different countries. The university maintains its facilities to the latest technological standards , enabling all students to access everything they need.
July 1970 : Philip Ah Chuen , the first Mauritian to Brunel University
Philip Ah Chuen , the director of ABC Motors, flew September 15, 1970 to Brunel University where he is studying Statistics.
These four years in this institution are very memorable to him . It is also , he said in an interview during a visit to former alumni of the campus, these spent Brunel and above the opportunity to work with United Biscuits in Liverpool during his studies years motivates him to undertake a Master of Science in Industrial Administration at Aston University. Now a businessman who needs no introduction , Philip Ah Chuen always keeps his heart a great interest in youth education and development.
Thus, during the meeting with the young people who will fly soon for Brunel , he kept telling his experience. At Liverpool , he recounted , he earned at the time 15 pounds as salary. He spent seven books for the cost of housing, three books and textbooks could save 5 pounds. With this money he will visit other countries such as Switzerland and Germany.After all these years , Philip Ah Chuen still believe that we must invest in young people and give them maximum opportunities for them to do their evidence. The director of ABC Motors believes that besides académqiue side, a young person must also be able to develop in other areas . Philip Ah Chuen is greatly involved in volunteering. He was the 40th president of the Rotary Club appointed in 2003 .
He continues to offer his expertise by serving on several boards in the education sector . In 2008, the Mauritius Institute of Management gave him the title of Honorary Fellow for his contribution in the field of professional management in the public sector.
