Foreign Workers: The DecisionOf Shakeel Mohamed Challenged By Entrepreneurs

The goal is to discourage company managers to recruit foreign workers and encourage them to turn to the local workforce. That is why the Minister of Labour , Shakeel Mohamed , announced Wednesday, Sept. 4 that contractors will no longer recruit foreigners in the construction sector until mid-October . However, some complain that business leaders is that the Minister's decision was not preceded by a meeting with manufacturers.

"Our members comply with regulations regarding the recruitment of foreigners. But we already focus on training and what should be is upgrading the building trades , "said Claude Bissessur , a member of the executive of the association.
