12,000 Jobs to the Market
While job opportunities were becoming increasingly rare in the early months of the year, the job market seems to have rebounded since the start of the second half. If January to May, the Ministry of Labour had identified 9,900 jobs, this figure improved for the period from June to September to surpass the 12,000 offers.

According to official data, the two carriers job sectors are information technology and real estate. This positive movement in the job market comes at a crucial moment. Combat unemployment, one of the priorities of the Budget 2014

Job seekers can hope. If the effects of the economic crisis have weighed heavily on the labor market during the first half of the year, the situation seems to be gradually improving in recent months. This is revealed by the latest official data from the Ministry of Labour. In any case, the government is no skimping on ways to combat unemployment.

Thus, in the last budget, the government has included several measures to help young people find jobs. The two key measures that have been enapplication during the year is the launch of the Youth Employment Programme (YEP) and maintaining the Service To Mauritius Programme (STM). YEP covers the grant of any individual investment company over a period of one year and the additional training provided to hired during the year candidate. The state reimburses 50% wages and training expenses of each recruited unemployed, with a budget of Rs 330 million allocated under the National Resilience Fund. According to the Grand treasurer, some 4000 young people will be recruited under this program by the end of 2013.

Regarding the STM program, graduates are recruited by the government on a contractual basis. The monthly salary is Rs 20,000 for those who are licensed and Rs 25,000 for those with a graduate degree. The contract period is two years, with a renewal option.

The next budget, which will be presented in early November, will provision for other concrete measures to help create jobs. The acceleration of economic democratization, as desired by Prime Minister Navin Ramgoolam, will probably increase employment opportunities in different sectors.

In its latest report on the basis of the quarterly business survey, conducted between 3 and 17 June, the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported that 17% of respondents say they will increase their numbers in the months come. "This is a result of the decisions of diversification and / or expansion of activities and, in some cases, the increase in demand," the report notes.
