PSAC 2024: Nearly 13,000 students take the road to exams

This morning, around 13,000 students will take part in the Primary School Achievement Certificate (PSAC), a day that coincides with the submission of nomination papers for the general elections on 10 November.

Among these students taking part in the PSAC exams, between 2,500 and 3,000 schoolchildren, a large proportion of whom are currently in Grade 5, are appearing as Private candidates. Motivated to make up for the delay caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, these students are preparing to obtain their PSAC. Today, the candidates will tackle the French exam, while those in the private sector will also have the sciences, starting at noon.

Vishal Baujeet, president of the Government Teachers' Union (GTU), points out that private school students, especially those in Grade 5, will be assessed on all subjects in Grade 6. "They will be tested on all subjects, covering the entire syllabus. These exams help assess the overall level of the student ," he says. On October 24, in addition to Asian languages ​​and Kreol Morisien, students will also be assessed in history and geography.

PSAC Calendar :

  • Today, October 22: French exams for all and science exams for private school students starting at noon.
  • October 23: English exam for all.
  • October 24: in the morning, Asian languages ​​and Kreol Morisien, and in the afternoon, history and geography for private school students.
  • October 25: mathematics test.
  • Results are expected between December 10 and 12.
