The error is confirmed. Cambridge acknowledged it with an apology and informed local authorities. This affects 80 students from 44 colleges who took part in one of the Chemistry exams in 2024. This announcement was made by Imteaz Ahsun, Officer-in-Charge of the Mauritius Examinations Syndicate (MES), on Wednesday, May 14.
The error pertains to the marking scheme of a Chemistry practical exam. "The error is not in the question paper," clarified the Officer-in-Charge.
As a result: “No one will lose marks for this question. Those who initially received no points for it will now be awarded their marks. For those who already had full marks, nothing changes.”
The MES representative also confirmed that there are no changes for laureates in this field nor for the top nine ranked students. After identifying the error, Cambridge implemented corrective measures. Following the improvement in results, Cambridge will issue a new certificate to replace the original document. Additionally, Cambridge has uploaded electronic statements of results.
