The Ministry of Education and Human Resources has announced that all classes will be suspended on Wednesday, 14 October, across Mauritius, Rodrigues and Agalega. The decision follows earlier announcements and is due to the current security situation.
The measure applies to public and private pre-primary and primary schools, as well as Special Education Needs (SEN) schools. It also covers technical and vocational training centres, including those under ITET and MITD. Online classes at the Mauritius Institute of Education will also be suspended.
All local examinations scheduled to take place tomorrow in schools across the Republic have been postponed to a later date, which will be announced in due course.
The School Certificate (SC) and Higher School Certificate (HSC) examinations scheduled for Wednesday, 14 October, will go ahead as planned. They will take place at the scheduled times in secondary schools across Mauritius, Rodrigues and Agalega.
The ministry says it is closely monitoring developments in coordination with the relevant authorities. A further announcement will be made depending on how the situation evolves.
